the choice of colors
In the packaging world, color isn't just branding. When we talk about blown plastic, choosing a shade brings with it competitive advantages but also significant technical complexities.
Brand awareness
Color is the first purchasing driver. A "Tiffany Blue" or "Rosso Corsa" bottle communicates instant placement without the need to read the label.
UV protection
Pigments, especially dark and opaque ones, act as a barrier, protecting photosensitive products (detergents, oils, cosmetics) from degradation caused by light.
Gamma differentiation
Color allows you to segment product lines (e.g. different fragrances) while maintaining the same mold, optimizing fixed costs.
The challenge of Recycling
That is the challenge of the decade. Colors that are too dark (especially Carbon Black) are difficult for optical readers in recycling plants to intercept, making the bottle "invisible" and destined for the waste-to-energy plant rather than a new life.
The market is moving towards the use of traceable pigments and a reduction in saturation to favor the circular economy. Designing packaging today means balancing the visual impact with the final recyclability of the polymer.
